How Freeva took fundraising to new heights with a team skydive

Freeva’s mission
Freeva is committed to reducing domestic abuse, rape, and sexual violence across Leicester, Leicestershire, and Rutland. Their vision is to build a society where everyone can live free from violence and abuse. Freeva empowers and supports those who are experiencing, or have experienced, domestic and sexual violence, while also working to promote healthy relationships and strengthen families and communities. Their priority is to provide high-quality, effective support to all individuals, regardless of background.
“GiveMatch made a huge difference to our fundraising efforts. The platform was straightforward for our supporters to use, and the added incentive of match funding gave our campaign a real boost.”

The challenge
Freeva has mostly relied on funding from local authorities, trusts, and foundations, and fundraising is a growing area for them. They’re now starting to focus on growing individual giving and building a supportive donor community. Their key challenge now is to raise more unrestricted income, reach new supporters, and build wider awareness to help sustain their vital work.
Our solution
To help kick-start their individual giving and reach more people, Freeva decided to try GiveMatch. The platform’s match funding, unlocked through social sharing and bringing in new donors, offered a powerful way to encourage giving and show supporters their contributions could go even further. It was also a chance to try something new, grow their fundraising confidence, and start building stronger connections with their community. Freeva’s brave team each set up their own fundraising page as they prepared to take on an 14,000-foot skydive, all to raise vital funds for Freeva’s work. Their fundraiser pages told a compelling story and clearly outlined the impact of donations, with a strong call to action for supporters to get involved.
“It not only encouraged more people to donate, but also inspired larger contributions, knowing their gift would have double the impact. We saw a noticeable uplift in engagement and donations, making GiveMatch an invaluable part of our success.”

The results
The fundraisers raised an impressive £8,011.60 thanks to Freeva’s community. By sharing the campaign and rallying friends and family, they unlocked £1,324.00 in match funding and earned another £4,665.00 through GiveMatch’s daily leaderboard. Match funding boosted their total by 42%, bringing the final amount raised to £14,000.60.
That level of support will help them fund counselling sessions, helpline services, and one-to-one support for victims of sexual violence. It’s a powerful reminder of how community action can help restore dignity, safety, and hope.
The campaign was a major success, highlighting the strength of community and laying a solid foundation for Freeva’s future fundraising.
